Our Story

Investment turned Opportunity…

CAVE opened its doors under different ownership. To support the business, Melany and Edric invested to help set up their kid’s future, but it was not long after that they found out previous ownership took their investment and paid off personal debts. While trying to move forward in a positive manner, Melany and Edric were met with several challenges from the previous owners, while also discovering that they put the company in debt. The owners wanted to work independently, then a month later were quick to pass over the company.
Melany and Edric took over the company while raising their three little kids and while Melany was pregnant with their forth. At the time, CAVE had only two staff, few practitioners, several liabilities, unpaid bills, a leaking mineral bath, a room as a construction site and mixed reviews to say the least. Although they always wanted to own a business together, this was not the way they wanted to start off. It was in the initial months that they received confirmation that CAVE was in fact put into significant debt, but if they wanted to, Melany and Edric could turn CAVE around and save the investment for their kids.

Transformative Change…

After creating a business plan, Melany and Edric have been working tirelessly to rebuild, rebrand, and redefine CAVE into what they think it always should have been… The premiere Health and Wellness Center. They have shared their story with applicants and other members of the community and have received much needed support. There have been many tough choices and stresses along with way, but this has led to several proud moments like not only to have built a CAVE team, but family; creating a new hydrotherapy service, renovating the mineral bath into a spa service, getting the cafe Fraser Health approved, partnering up with other small businesses in the community and connecting with our community to listen to its needs.

New Beginnings…

Melany and Edric have founded a business built on honesty, transparency and ethics. They have created a space to welcome the community and offer a place where they can be taken care of. CAVE offers a multi-disciplinary setting that is client-centered and collaborative to provide holistic care: Spa, Clinic, Cafe, and Retail.

Swedish Massage
This is the most popular form of massage used in North America. Often a lotion or oil is used to reduce skin friction. The therapist combines light stroking in one direction with deep pressure in another to relax muscles. The treatment expedites blood flow to flush lactic acid, uric acid, and other waste products from the muscles. Ligaments and tendons are stretched increasing their suppleness. Nerves are stimulated and relaxed, and stress is alleviated. The overall goal is to relax muscles.

Deep Tissue Massage
This technique targets chronic muscle tension. The therapist’s strokes are slower, using more direct pressure and friction. Depending on the texture of the deeper layers of muscle and tissue felt, the therapist periodically adjusts their hand positions, strokes, and intensity to work the tissues to release tension.

Myofascial Release
Myofascial release, or soft tissue mobilization, is a therapy used to release tension stored in the fascia. Fascia are sheets of fibrous tissue that encase and support muscles, separating them into groups and layers. Following trauma, the fascia and muscles may shorten restricting blood flow. The techniques used in myofascial release, relax muscle tension and break up fascial adhesions.

Trigger Point Release
Trigger points are tiny, tight nodules that form in muscles causing referred pain. Sometimes myofascial pain can be linked to one or more trigger points. The treatment goals include alleviating muscle spasms, improving circulation, and releasing trigger points. The therapist applies direct momentary pressure to a trigger point to cause its release. During the massage, the therapist may return several times to a stubborn trigger point to elicit its release.

How does it work?

Massage Therapy is an effective approach to pain management and rehabilitation. RMT’s are effective in treating and providing relief for a wide range of conditions such as migraine headaches, tendonitis, arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, sports injuries, as well as many other common conditions related to soft tissue and joint dysfunction.
